easyJet
Airline of the 21st century/the true air bus.
Easyjet operates in a business model rather
fresh to me: strip the airline to its very basics, use the same aircraft in the entire fleet, make short
stops at airports, market your image as a trendy airline, fly point-to-point (rather than from hubs), and simplify the ticketing process by
putting it all on the Internet and the computer.
The result: outragously low prices for early-bookers, and low prices for late-comers.
Although Easyjet isn't an architectural wonder, architecturally speaking, I was extremely intrigued by
such a business model, it has successfully commoditized the airline industry and making it less of
luxury, than a Volksshuttle. Its implications point a good direction where business, even architectural business,
for a model that better fits the current market-oriented environment.
