Unite d'Habitation, Marseilles, Southern France

The Unite was designed by Le Corbusier to be a component of a for of city planning (called Ville Radieuse, the "Radiant City"), based on hundreds of these buildings put together. Only one building was built by Le Corbusier in Marseilles.

The interesting thing about this is Corbu's view on public housing. Every unit is 2 stories tall. The mid-level contains a commercial area equipped with a grocery store, restaurant, bookstore, and other shops.
